An ancient therapy 3000 years old acupuncture continues to be safe, applicable and effective in our modern world and increasingly popular as an alternative in the West. Traditional Chinese Medicine through thousands of years of observation takes into account the emotional wellbeing, diet and environmental factors to identify the root cause of disharmony in the body. Observation of the tongue and quality of the pulse further add to the diagnosis. The Chinese medicine system also involves the use of Meridians or energy pathways in the body. These meridians are said to run under the surface of the skin and connect in to their related organs. A healthy person is said to have a good flow of Qi (pronounced Chi) or energy flowing thru these channels. When there is a blockage in the flow of Qi a disharmony will result. Acupucture treatment involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points which run along the Meridians. Some points have a specific function to harmonise the organs and others are used to unblock the energy flow. .............................................................Next Page >> |
